Play-Through Calculator: What a Bonus Costs in Turnover

A bonus is not money you can withdraw. It carries a play-through requirement: a total amount you have to stake before anything won from it can leave the app. Multiply the bonus by the multiplier and that is the turnover. This works it out for your own numbers.

The multiplier is stated in your app’s bonus terms. Multiply it by the bonus amount to get the turnover. Common combinations:

What the number actually means

It is turnover, not losses. Every stake counts toward the requirement whether the round wins or loses. You are not required to lose the money, only to cycle it through.

It applies to the winnings too. Money won using bonus funds inherits the restriction. This is why a balance that looks healthy can still refuse to withdraw.

Some games will not count. Most operators exclude part of their catalogue, and a stake on an excluded game moves the counter not at all. That is how people end up an hour in having made no progress.

Clearing it with the bonus intact is uncommon. Every game keeps a built-in advantage, so a balance usually declines while the turnover counter climbs. That is not a fault in the arithmetic; it is the design.

Some apps, including ours, label this a wagering requirement in their own terms. It is the same thing.

If a cashout is already being held, the causes and what to do about each are on withdrawal limits and times. Before adding money at all, working out what you can afford to lose is the more useful page.

Frequently asked questions

What is a play-through requirement?

It is the total amount you must stake before money linked to a bonus can be withdrawn. It is turnover, not losses: every stake counts toward it whether you win or lose that round. Multiply the bonus by the stated multiplier and that is the figure.

Does the play-through requirement mean I have to lose that much?

No, and this is the part most often misunderstood. You have to cycle that amount through, not lose it. In practice a balance usually declines while the counter climbs, because every game keeps a built-in advantage, but the requirement itself is about turnover alone.

Do all games count toward play-through?

Usually not. Most operators exclude some games, and staking on an excluded one moves the counter not at all. Check the exclusion list before you start a session with bonus balance rather than after.

Why is my withdrawal blocked when I have a balance?

Most often because part of that balance is bonus-linked and the play-through requirement has not been met. Money won using bonus funds inherits the restriction, which is why a healthy-looking balance can still be unwithdrawable.
