Andar Bahar: Rules and How the Game Pays
Andar Bahar turns one card face up as the joker. Cards are then dealt alternately into two piles, Andar and Bahar, until one of them matches the joker’s rank. You choose which pile you think the match will land in, and you choose before any card is dealt. That is the entire game.

How a round works
- A card is turned face up. This is the joker.
- You stake on Andar or Bahar.
- Cards are dealt alternately to the two piles, starting with Andar.
- Dealing stops as soon as a card matches the joker’s rank.
- Whichever pile the match landed in wins.
The two options and what each returns
| Option | Wins when | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Andar | The match lands in the Andar pile | Receives the first card, so it matches slightly more often. The return is reduced to match. |
| Bahar | The match lands in the Bahar pile | Matches slightly less often, and returns slightly more. |
People notice that Andar wins more and conclude it is the better side. It is not: the return is adjusted precisely because it wins more. Once that adjustment is accounted for, the two options come out close to equivalent, which is exactly what the adjustment is for.
The built-in advantage, in plain terms
The game keeps a margin on both options. It does this by paying slightly less than the true frequency of each outcome would justify. You will not notice it in one round or ten; it is visible over hundreds.
That margin applies to every round regardless of which side you take, so switching sides, following streaks or waiting for a pattern changes nothing. The rounds are also quick, and as with Dragon vs Tiger, speed is what usually matters more than stake size.
No figure for the share of stakes returned to players is published for this game, or for any other game in the app, so there is no number to compare it against. We would rather state that than let you assume one exists.
Stakes in the app
Table minimums run PKR 50–100. Every game and its range is listed in games available in the app.

Frequently asked questions
How does Andar Bahar work?
One card is turned face up as the joker. Cards are then dealt alternately to two piles, Andar and Bahar, until one matches the joker’s rank. You stake on which pile the match lands in, before the dealing starts.
Is Andar Bahar skill or chance?
Pure chance. Your only decision is which side to take and how much to stake, both made before any card is dealt. Nothing after that point is influenced by you.
Which side is better in Andar Bahar, Andar or Bahar?
Andar receives the first card, so it matches slightly more often. The return on Andar is reduced to account for that. The two options are close to equivalent once the return is factored in, which is the point of the adjustment.
What is the minimum Andar Bahar stake in 3 Patti Crown?
Table minimums run PKR 50–100, depending on the table.
